What
up Fam and Friends!
I send my love to u all from the islands of Kiribati. So this
week was a solid week, like it feels good to finally get a solid week of work
in after some very slow weeks.
Tuesday: Service: helped people crack open coconuts with a
hatchet (thats how people.get money here) we hit it open dry out the insides
then take out the inside coconut meat and sell it to the gov who sells it to
companies.
Wednesday: our village singing and dancing tryout at the gov
village. It was sooo fun and such an honor to participate. As a foreigner im
technically not supposed to be a part of it but because my village really
wanted us to be apart of it, the main people let us. So awesome and fun! The
guy cultural dancing is sooo cool! The tryout was for
the big party (the 50th anniversary of the gov. Here on Maiana) but the party
got changed to this coming saturday because the president of Kiribati couldnt
come this saturday, so be is coming this coming saturday. Its a huuuuge
celebration! And our village got selected to perform in it!
Thursday: work
Friday May 26th: a year ago i graduated high school. And received
my mission call. Time flies. I miss high school.
Saturday: my comp was.having a hard time so we didnt get much
done until the evening.
Sunday: church! We had 55 people total! Like 6 investigators, 4
of which have baptismal dates. We did 5 churches. Our last session was what i
like to call our Army of children haha. There are like 8 kids who come to
church every week (none of their parents are members) of the kids only 5 are
members and the other 3 are the friends of the members. We are now studying
with them. The kids are like the smartest in the village and are sooo awesome.
They love to learn the gospel. These kids are all in elementary school, no
joke, they have so much faith.
I want you all to pray for one invesgigator, his name is Ngauea.
He is 19 years old and litteraly told us that he wants to gst baptized and go
on a mission. He comes to church every week and we now study with his whole
family. The only problem is that he has a problem with a drug. Keep him in ur
prayers please.
Missions are super hard. Like really hard. Please dont judge anyone for coming
home.early from their missions, its freaking hard.
Future missionaries make sure u have a strong testimony cuz ur
in for a long hard ride.
I wish i had a stronger testimony earlier. The mission has
really done a lot of reconstruction on me hahaha. I am sorry to everyone that i
have done wrong to. Please forgive me, especially for my immaturity.
I love this work, its freakin hard and the Lord loves humbling
me everyday (especially with the language). Love you all. Keep enduring with
Faith Hope and CHARITY!
Much love,
Elder Tingey
Ps. Last week my foot swelled up (like pregnant ladies feet
haha) it was from a mosquito bight haha. Im happy to tell u mom that the
swelling is almost done hahah. Im going to have a ton of scars from mosquito
bites.
