What
up fam! and Friends!
Solid week this week. Trying to learn Kiribati is freakin hard
when you have no teacher and no Kiribati people to speak to and have pronounce
words for you. Pray right?haha I read the BoM in Kiribati and it was sooo hard
and then I read it in Marshallese and It was sooo easy, im like dang, i got to
go back to square one. But its alright little by little.
This week involved a lot of biking, as usual. We also had Zone
Meeting on Wednesday where the training was given about Unity in a
companionship. Basically this applies in everything and that one of the
greatest things we can do is serve each other, serve and do not expect a thank
you. If we do this in our marriages and every day life in everything, we will
have greater joy in our lives.
Also Thursday night we had a fire on the beach and had the
marshallese neighbor boys come over and cook fish and hot dogs over the fire.
It was a good time, sorry i forgot to take pics.
Friday I had the chance to go with a senior couple and handout
backpacks to kids at Woja Elementary. Apparently some marshallese lady told a
returned missionary that they needed backpacks and so this family sent a ton
over and it cost $700 just to send them. TO be honest i have never seen a
student here on Majuro without a backpack, they all have them. I think the
marshallese lady wanted them so she could sell them, but good thing the senior
couples are in charge of them and not the lady. Maybe they would be better
useful for outer islands.
Saturday we road our bikes all morning and afternoon and had
only success in the invitation hahaha. We got sunburnt real bad, but hopefully
it will turn into a tan (we not it wont but we can be hopeful).
Sunday I saw the Lord blessing me for the work when again a ton
of less actives that we have been working with came to church. Its awesome to
see the church building going from half full when i first got here, to now full
every week! Love the work!!! Its crazy how much joy you get in serving others.
some days its hard cuz my body is lazy and tired and wants to stay and learn
Kiribati, but then I go out to work and just can't wipe the smile off my face
haha.
I havn't seen conference yet, but i have been reading a book
about President Gordon B. Hinckley and his teachings and he is such a baller.
THe thing i liked this week was "FORGET YOURSELF AND GO TO WORK!" I
love good ole Gordon.
Also another quotation i like was The Greatest commandment is
the one you are having the hardest time keeping. Work on it, and once you have
conquuered it, move on to the next one.
And one thought that came into my mind when I woke up in the
middle of the night was "Did You Think To Pray?" Prayer is such a
powerful thing and we need to pray all the time.
The latest on Kiribati is that we are waiting on visas, it should
be 2-3 weeks. hopefully it will be fast!
love you all!
