What
up Fam ans Friends!
Hows summer? Miss it.
Well to start off my email. 2 songs that are popular here in
Kiribati are 1. Timber by Blake shelton ans some girl. And then 2. Second Hand
Heart by kelly clarkson and some guy.
Both catchy good songs but get annoying when they play them.all
day on repeat.
This week was filled with blessings for the Lord. We picked up 2
new solid investigators. Also got some less actives to come back to church. And
had 2 baptisms.
Ill explain those in a second.
Wednesday night we went to a first birthday party for a baby
that lives a cross the road from us. Its was super cool, because it was like
formal and all the respected people in the village were invited. The family got
a ton of food from Tarawa and they killed a pig too (which means its a big
deal) and the food was sooo good. Anyway before this party started we were
waiting in our house and i got a prompting to read the BoM because we hadnt had
time earlier to get our studies in. I just pushed the prompting away because i
was super tired.and.just wanted to rest. The party then started and of course
you all should know by now that we had to give a speech. I prayed before i gave
the speech. I prayed that the Lord would help me. When i gave the speech it was
like i forgot Kiribati. My words did not flow and my speech was sooo bad. After
my speech i prayed again in my heart and was like "why didnt you help me
Lord?" and then i remembered the prompting i had earlier and that i didnt
read the Book of Mormon that day. I went right home afger the party and read my
scriptures. Lets all remember President Monsons message last general conference
that we should read the Book of Mormon everyday. And if the prophet tells us
that, that means God is telling us to read it.
Continuing on with the week, we had another dinner at that
house, and i woke up so sick the next morning and was taking many trips to the
restroom. Luckily it was just from the food and only lasted a couple of.hours.
Other than that my health is doing well.
I also got a haircut! A guy did it all with scissors and it
looks dang good, its impressive.
Lastly Saturday, we held another training. This was for the
elders quorom and relief society and we really focused on home teaching
and.visiting teaching. It was a solid training and im very excited to see the
members taking responsibility.
After the training we had 2 baptisms. One was a child of record
(but under my.direction because im branch pres.) and.the other was a convert
baptism. Our 11 year old stud kid named Teuea (his name in Kiribati
means The King) he was sooo ready and is such a smart kid. His family was very
supportive of him and even came to the baptism(they arent members ).
Then on sunday we gave them the Gift of the Holy Ghost. Cool stuff.
On sunday we had 61 people at church, the number just keeps
increasing. We had 6 investigators at.church and 8 MP holders.
Today we helped one of our investigators move his house from one
end of the island to the middle, we put it on the back of.the truck haha. It
was a fun service.
Love you all! Love the mission! About a month and a half away
from my year mark. Crazy!
Be safe, remember your Savior Jesus Christ.
Much love,
Elder Tingey
